Pics from the OC Trash Bash September 28, 2007

The OC Trash Bash was coordinated by our own Nataly Lemus, who did a fantastic job. One of the many amazing photographers involved, David Baxter from Ohana Photography, submitted this account.

Have you ever had one of those days when everything is perfect? A day when everyone around you is smiling, the sun is shining a little brighter than normal, & all your worries are somehow on vacation? Well, this day was one of those days. The planets aligned, pigs flew, hell froze over, there was a blue moon, & I was in the right place at the right time. I’m talking about the day I participated in the Orange County Trash Bash here in sunny Southern California. There were about 20 photographers & just as many (if not more) brides in their wedding dress. Nataly Lemus from Los Angeles arranged the shoot & somehow got everyone together. She did an amazing job. We all met at the beach, paired up, & started shooting. Everyone in attendance, photographers, brides, grooms, & pets was there for a common goal. We wanted to create incredible, fun, unique images. We all wanted to do something different from the norm. Here’s my philosophy. A bride in her wedding dress is one of the most beautiful visions we are blessed to see. For those of us daring enough to step outside the confines of “tradition” that beautiful vision can not only be seen on a day other than the wedding day, it can be fully realized & expressed in ways that it simply can not be on the wedding day itself. That is what these sessions are all about. To me, they’re not simply a time to just go “trash” a dress for no reason. They’re about letting a bride express her beauty in the dress she has dreamt of wearing for so long, but will put away all too quickly. They’re about nurturing creativity & not worrying about getting dirty. An added bonus to a TTD session is the fact that everyone is so relaxed. No stress, no timeline to follow, no worries, no rules. Freedom.
Getting back to this session in particular, the couple I paired up with was Wendy & Dan. As you can probably tell from the images, we had a ton of fun. I could not have asked for a better couple or better conditions. The light was like buttah. The stage was set for one incredible photo session. All I had to do was capture it. Hopefully I did it justice. These are the images from my perfect day with Wendy & Dan. Enjoy. Mahalo for stopping by (and reading all this). ☺
