Photographer of the Week – Gisela Prishker October 1, 2007

It has been way more than a week, but this summer was definitely a busy one!

However, I am kicking off the first Fall Photographer of the Week with a BANG!

Everything from this photographer is enticing, from the gorgeous colors that pour out of the images she captures to the artistic eye she has for photography and life in general.

I am sure you will be craving to see more of her work after reading her interview and seeing the teasers I posted of her photography so here’s her website!

 

Where do you live? In Dallas, but will be relocating to California soon

How long have you been shooting? Since I was 14

Favorite place to shoot? Anywhere that’s not pretty, anywhere artistic, colorful, dirty, I don’t know, I just drive around and if I like the light or see a cool location I stop and shoot, But I have to say wherever I see red I stop.

How would you describe your style? Sensual, Modern, Fashionable and fun with a Latin twist (I love that) that’s a Martha Blanchfield quote.

Best part of being a wedding photographer? I love LOVE and I get paid to photograph it .its awesome, I love the traveling part, the connection with my clients and I love the fun part, I love making new friends and most of my clients become my friends.

Would you trash your dress? Of course I would love to do something unique, crazy, fn and again crazy.

What advice do you have for future brides? Have Fun, enjoy the day, and relax

What advice do you have for other photographers? Be consistent, don’t try to copy someone else style, go with your vision, don’t be afraid to be different, take the risk and you will be surprise with the outcome, shoot without the camera sometimes for creative reasons and Believe in yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask other photographers for help or advise. Be a giver first. Get involved in the community and give, give and give.

I have never… asked for an autograph

I’m looking forward… to my trip to Iran for a documentary (if I get my passport) and Japan. Also want to see what is next on my career

I’m addicted to… Photography, tacos (real Mexican), work, books, and family time

Why/How did you decide to go into photography? I just love it since I was 14, It has been something I always wanted to do, I change my mind every second at first I wanted to be a singer, actress, model, photographer I tried them all but only Photography became my passion and something I wanted to do for life. I am glad that’s what I am doing…. Because I love it, I have done more editorial & fashion, I got into weddings like a year ago thanks to the great help of Mr. Robert Morrell www.dfwwp.com he is awesome.

How do you balance life and work? They go together photography is my life and my first love, I am bless to do what I love and I passionate about it, I am driven by passion, so If I am not passionate about it I wont do it.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? I see my self having a great time with the Chinese girl I want to adopt in 6years, enjoying life with my family, teaching photography, and doing more fashion photography.

Who do you admire? Kenneth Ishiki for his strength and power to do the hard work he does and do it right, I also admire Frida’s passion, I admire Robert Morrell for being one of the greatest photographer who doesn’t have an ego, Mike Colon for being such a giver, and my parents for being able to make of me the woman I have become Los Amo Papi y Mami!

If there was a famous couple that you could photograph a “trash the
dress” session with, who would it be?  Salma Hayek or Sofia Vergara

What is your favorite time of day? All day, I hardly sleep because I like enjoying every minute of my life. I live my life to the fullest and I can hardly sleep.

What makes a perfect trash the dress session? An unexpected location, a fun couple and someone I can feel very connected to.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Love, Fashion Magazines, Museums, Art Galleries, cool videos like the ones Shezad from www.hakimsonsstudio.com this man is soooooooo creative, very artistic and so talented. Life inspires me to be a better person and be a better photographer.

Photography is …A way to communicate what I feel

What is the best compliment you have received on your photography? “You have the whole package great personality & a fabulous portfolio.”

What was the last thing you bought? A plane ticket to my 2 month tour to Dallas, Mexico, California, Miami & Naples

What’s the one thing you want to buy next? A nice place to live

Film or digital? I shoot both but Digital is my main camera

Recommend a book to read…The Alchemist – Paulo Coehlo

What is one thing your clients should know about you? I love to do sensual images with a fashionable and modern feel, so the best clients for me is adventurous and open, I am a little bit crazy and I might be dancing at the wedding love having fun.

Any advice for brides trying to decide whether or not to trash the dress? If you want to have creative images and want to try something new, have fun and do it! We only live once.
